ST. FRANCISVILLE, La (FOX44) -- Three St. Francisville residents are behind bars for allegedly committing insurance fraud. Louisiana State Troopers say a driver with GEICO insurance backed into a car owned by Honabea Cavalier, 31, in a retail parking lot.
According to police, Cavalier filed claims for herself and her five children for injuries she said she received during the parking lot collision. They say GEICO paid Cavalier $500.
Troopers say Earl Barrow, 26, and Sandra Cavalier, 51, also filed injuries claims with GEICO for the same crash. They say Honabea Cavalier filed a police report one month after the crash had happened. They expect it was to further support her injury claims.
When troopers investigated the incident, they found out that there was no one in Cavalier's car at the time of the crash.
Honabea Cavalier is charged with insurance fraud, felony theft, and filing false public documents. Earl Barrow and Sandra Cavalier are charged with insurance fraud. They each face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
