BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) -- As Baton Rouge keeps an eye on the storm in the Gulf, many recall the damage Hurricane Gustav did to the Capitol City three years ago.
Hurricane Gustav ripped through South Louisiana on Sept. 1, 2008. Power outages, downed trees, and damage to homes remained weeks after the storm.
Gustav was a category one when it made landfall in Cocodrie, but in the end, thirty-four Parishes were declared a disaster area.
Forty-eight people from Louisiana lost their lives.
