Tiger Stadium to be renovated
BATON ROUGE, La (FOX44) — Tiger Stadium is getting a $9 million makeover! The Tiger Athletic Foundation putting up the money for the renovations, which are expected to be completed just in time for the next football season.
The walls outside of the stadium will be resurfaced, the gates will be replaced, and the place will be lit up with brand new lights.
If that isn't exciting enough, Tiger Stadium is also getting a place to showcase the achievements of all Tiger teams over the years. It'll be on the west side, and it will be called the SEC Champions Plaza.
"Right now it's giving us an opportunity that we never had before, giving our fans an opportunity to really know the history of Tiger Stadium and the tradition of teams," says Senior Associate Athletic Director Eddie Nunez.
The first part of those renovations will start this March. All that new stuff is expected to be in place before the Tigers take the field against North Texas September 1st for the first game of the 2012 season.
