BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) -- You still have time to get your Cyber Monday shopping on, but just know Internet thieves are on the prowl.

The President of the Better Business Bureau says there are ways to keep your identity safe while surfing the web.

Jim Stalls says always look for a padlock symbol on the website, that means no crooks can get your credit info.

Next get a copy of your credit report to make sure you don't get stuck with a charge you didn't sign up for.

"That's where we have to accept the responsibility, if we're gonna shop online, amke sure we know who we're shopping with. By Christmas, get a copy of your credit report, and make sure that there hasn't been any activity that you did not initiate," said BBB President Jim Stalls
