Toddler dies in double shooting
NEW ORLEANS, LA (FOX8) - A one-year-old girl is dead after getting caught in cross-fire in the 3300 block of Erato Street while playing in a courtyard with other children.
Officers arrived to the scene at approximately 4:40 p.m. and discovered the first victim, a 19-year-old male, suffering from several gunshot wounds to his body.
Just feet away, a one-year-old girl was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The toddler was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police say the little girl was just four days away from turning two-years-old.
The 19-year-old male was also transported to the hospital and was taken into surgery in serious condition.
Investigators believe the 19-year-old man was walking in the nieghborhood when gunmen in two seperate vehicles began shooting at him. The man managed to run into a crowded courtyard full of kids as the gunmen continued to fire at him, striking the toddler in the head.
Police are looking for a white SUV and a grey Honda or Acura which may be involved to this incident.
