AMITE, LA (FOX44) -- Sheriff’s Deputies went to the scene of a traffic crash in Amite. When they arrived, they discovered one vehicle involved had ingredients for the creation of methamphetamine in the front seat.
Deputies arrived at the site of the accident on Hwy. 16 and Hwy. 1054 at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11. During the investigation, they discovered a clandestine methamphetamine lab on the front seat of the vehicle.
Officials say the ingredients were actively used as a part of a meth lab operation. At that point the TPSO Tri-Parish Narcotics Unit was contracted and arrived to depose of the lab.
Nito Emile Rodriguez, 27, of Amite was arrested and taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment of injuries sustained during the accident. Upon release, Rodriguez faces charges of Creation and Operation of Meth Lab and Possession of CDS II Narcotics.
