Trash concerns in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) - Some joggers say one of Baton Rouge's most scenic places is becoming an eyesore.
A ditch at Stanford and LSU by the lakes is filling up with trash. Wine bottles, soda cans, even beach balls have been coming from upstream - and coming to rest at the intersection.
It's caught the attention of Keep Louisiana Beautiful. Their facebook page urges anyone who sees litter to take a picture and post it online.
Some of those pictures have reached the East Baton Rouge Department of Public Works. They tell NBC33 boom was put in at the ditch to collect trash. They say whenever it fills up, it's emptied.
People who use the trail to walk or bike every day say cleaning things up as needed is a step in the right direction. But they hope with the pictures being sent, and people who use the trail on the lookout, a more permanent solution will be put in place.
It's not just that intersection that's raising eyebrows. Complaints of litter have been posted online from all over the city and the interstate. For more information - click on the link.
