Two drown in St. Mary Parish
AMELIA, LA (FOX8) - The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office says two people drowned over the weekend in Bayou Boeuf in the town of Amelia, La.
A spokesman says officers were called to the scene around 2:45 Saturday morning in reference to three victims in the water of Bayou Boeuf near the Amelia Belle casino area.
The only survivor, Joseph Fountain of Mississippi who was wearing a life vest, made it to shore.
One victim, identified as Huey Comeaux Jr. of Amelia was found Saturday at 11am and the other victim, Linda Fountain of Mississippi, was found the Sunday morning around 8am.
Both victims were turned over to the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office.
