First homicide cases of new year
SCOTLANDVILLE, La (FOX44) -- Two bodies have been found in the Scotlandville area. Both were discovered in less than twenty-four hours of each other.
The first was found on Monday, Jan. 3 at a little before 4:00 p.m. Linda McCastle, a resident who lives on Kingfisher Ave., was looking for toys lost by her children when she stumbled upon the gruesome scene.
“As I went and looked for it, I looked in that grass and I spotted a dead body, and I in turn got on the phone and I called my neighbor and called the police to see what was wrong,” McCastle told FOX 44 News.
Baton Rouge Police Detectives believe the body, which has been identified as Terrance Grevious, had been there for at least two days. An autopsy revealed that Grevious was shot in the head and left behind a bush.
The second case happened this morning on Jay Street in Scotlandville. The body of a male was also discovered by a resident from the area. Officials say the twenty-seven year old man was shot to death. His body was left on a playground located under an overpass.
Both investigations are ongoing. If you have any information contact the Homicide Division at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
