BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) -- One of the victims of a home invasion is now behind bars as well. That’s because the victim was involved in a drug transaction and has marijuana inside of the home at the time of the incident.

The Baton Rouge Police were called to the home of Austin Wilkerson, 22, of Arialo Street on Saturday, April 27. That’s because two men had been invited to the home, but then attempted to rob the homeowner. A struggle ensued and one of the attempted robbers was shot in the head.

The two attempting to rob the home fled to the Baker area. The suspect who was shot was sent to the hospital in critical condition. The uninjured suspect, Chauncy Carter, 32, was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Armed Robbery, Attempted First-Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

After a full investigation the Baton Rouge Police Department issued an arrest warrant for the alleged victim, Austin Wilkerson. That’s because the home where the incident occurred contained a large amount of marijuana.

Wilkerson was arrested today in St. Tammany Parish. He will be transported back to Baton Rouge and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

The Baton Rouge Police Department says more arrests are possible in this case.
