SPRINGFIELD, LA (FOX44) — A man from Springfield, La was sent to the hospital with a life threatening wound. When Sheriff’s Deputies asked what happened, a female in the home said he “fell on a knife.”
Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at a home on Garner Street to find Melvin Pooler, 48, lying on the floor with a knife wound on the side of his chest. Pooler was taken to a hospital in Hammond, and deputies began questioning Carolyn Taylor, 46, who was in the home at the time of the incident.
Taylor originally told deputies that she and Pooler were about to eat dinner when he fell and landed on a knife. Detectives were brought in to examine the scene, and shortly thereafter Taylor admitted she lied in her original statement. She then told detectives that the two had been arguing, and she was the one who stabbed him.
Although she admitted to the stabbing, Taylor refused to tell detectives where the knife is located. The knife has not been recovered.
Taylor has been charged with one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder, and one count of Obstruction of Justice. She is currently being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
