BURKE, LA (FOX44) — A crash yesterday afternoon outside of West Baton Rouge Parish sent two small children to the hospital. State Police believe the driver who caused the crash may have been impaired by drugs.
The accident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10 on Bueche Road, north of LA 620. An investigation revealed that Shannon Taylor, 30, of Bueche was driving around a right hand curve when she crossed the center line. That’s when she hit a truck being driven by Alfred Banks, 65, of New Roads.
Taylor had two children, ages 7 and 8, in her vehicle at the time of the crash. They were both taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge. Burke was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Troopers charged Taylor with 2nd offense DWI, vehicular negligent injuring (3 counts), and careless operation of a vehicle. She will be booked into West Baton Rouge Parish Prison upon her release from the hospital.
