Zachary shooting puts two men in jail

ZACHARY, La (FOX44) -- A shooting that occured in Zachary on Sunday, Feb. 20, has put two men behind bars.

The East Baton Rouge Violent Crime Unit Investigators responded to a call that happened on Samuels Road in Zachary on Sunday, and found Jerrick Spears, 22, had been shot and later died at Lane Regional Hospital.

Detectives arrested Kenneth Nixon of Zachary when they learned that he had been in an ongoing feud with the victim. They say Nixon opened fire on three people, including Spears.

Nixon was arrested and charged with one count First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

 Nixon’s brother, Jeremy Nixon of Baton Rouge, was also arrested. He was the driver of the vehicle where shots were fired. He was charged with one count Principal to First Degree Murder, two counts Principal Attempted First Degree Murder and two outstanding traffic warrants for No Driver’s License and Careless Operation.
