‘Don’t Feed the Artist’ begins long march towards BR’s first Fashion Week event

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 - 1:25pm

BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Fashion designer Anthony Ryan Auld is no stranger to having people watching his every move. But the former “Project Runway” contestant is taking that to a whole new level with his “Don’t Feed the Artist” experience.

On April 24, 2012, Baton Rogue will host its first ever MODE Fashion Week. Auld, who spearheaded the event, will debut a new line to the public at that event. In the same way fans of “Project Runway” gained an inside look into his process via television, Auld has created a public viewing space where anyone can watch the process of building this new line from beginning to end.

“During the week people can come and window shop, and then on the weekends it will be open from 6:00 to 9:00 [pm],” Auld explained. “They will get a firsthand look at what’s going on and how everything is constructed. I’ll probably answer some questions, too.”

The space is located near the back end of Perkins Rowe between Aristocracy and Paris Parker. Although this location will be primarily occupied by Auld for the next month and a half, he will have some special guests, too.

Auld has invited several of his fellow former contestants to join him in debuting new work at MODE Fashion Week. On Friday, March 23, he will formally announce who those cast members include.

“A lot of people are going to be surprised by some of the people who are included,” Auld said with a laugh. “There are a couple of people who most might think I don’t get along with, but I do! We’re all good friends.”

In the days leading up to the show, those designers will also take over space in the new, open workroom.

“All of their collections will be housed there until the show,” Auld notes. “That Friday before the big show is going to be very busy. That’s typically a long night for any designer.”

MODE Fashion Week is also tied into Anthony Ryan’s new charity organization Rock One. Click here to view more information about that movement.
