Big Baton Rouge weekend set for Super Bowl, Mardi Gras celebrations

Baton Rouge kicks off a weekend of Super Bowl fan events and Mardi Gras parades for visitors and locals alike on Feb. 1 in Town Square.

“We've got lots of fun the entire weekend for football fans in town for the Super Bowl and for local families,” says Paul Arrigo, president and CEO of Visit Baton Rouge. “We're going to have a fan fest open to the public and that's not just visitors, that includes people here in the capital area.”

Festivities begin with tailgating and live music from noon to 2 p.m. by The Mulligan Brothers then Orphan Annie from 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The Krewe of Artemis parade rolls at 7 p.m.

The party continues Feb. 2 with food and more live music with the Young Band Nation Blues Project from noon to 2 p.m. followed by the Krewe of Mystique parade. Rockin’ Dopsie & the Zydeco Twisters play from 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m., and the Krewe of Orion’s parade will wrap up the day’s festivities.

Super Bowl XLVII will be broadcasted live on Feb. 3 at many of the bars and restaurants downtown. Festivities start at 5:25 p.m.
