Starting tonight New Roads will host free downtown music concerts this summer, including “June Jams” and the “River Rhythms Fest.”

The “June Jams” concerts will feature live music on June 2 and June 16, with performances from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. The 5-D Band will perform on June 2, and Da Mellow Band will perform June 16. Myer noted that the June 2 concert is sponsored by Ma Mama’s Kitchen.

The “River Rhythms Fest” will be held July 1 and feature five local bands -- K’mystery, 5-D Band, Michael Foster Project, Neighborhood Stars and Da Mellow Band. The first concert will begin at 1 p.m. that day, and entertainers will perform throughout the evening.

Myer said local food vendors will be on hand for all the concerts, and local restaurants will offer specials on those days. He said free parking also will be available.

“Our June Jams concerts and River Rhythms Fest offer locals and out-of-town guests a great opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery of New Roads while enjoying great music and our local food,” Myer said.
