LAFAYETTE, LA (FOX44) — Members of a south Louisiana group packed their bags and headed toward the Big Apple to participate in one of the biggest parades in the nation, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Pride of Acadiana, the University of Louisiana-Lafayette’s marching band, left Monday to march in the 86th annual parade. It is scheduled to roll at 8:00 a.m. Thursday and will air on FOX44.
The marching band is a part of an exclusive, 12-band list from all over North America, which include: Banda Musical Delfines- Fortino Melgoza Gonzalez, Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, Father Ryan High School Marching Band, Nashville, Tennessee, Kenton Ridge High School Marching Band, Springfield, Ohio, Macy's Great American Marching Band, USA, Niceville High School Marching Band, Niceville, Florida, North Carolina A & T State University Marching Band, Greensboro, North Carolina, NYPD Marching Band, New York, Oak Ridge High School Marching Band, Conroe, Texas, Saratoga High School, Saratoga, California, United States Air Force Band, Washington, DC, and Wyoming All-State Marching Band, Wyoming.
The parade will also boast more than just marching bands. It will incorporate large, cartoon ballons, like Hello Kitty and Kermit the Frog, floats, ballonicles, clowns, novelty balloons, and performance groups.
