BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — As more shows and movies are filmed in the area, those production crews looking for something in Baton Rouge don't have to look very far anymore.

That's because of a new app that just launched, By Baton Rouge.

The app's developer says the goal is simple; to make the link between the film industry and Baton Rouge stronger.

“It gives the film office a way to get their date to the productions that have already committed to Baton Rouge,” Ed Henegar, Reelsout App Developer, explained.

And in turn, boost the city's economy.

“Making the local businesses a larger part of what we're doing in Baton Rouge in the film industry,” Mayor Holden said in a press conference today.

The app lists all types of stores and vendors by type in the area. It includes everything from pest control service to baby nurseries. You name it, they’ve got it. Then, those vendors can even list special prices for people in the film and TV industry.

Before today, crews got all that information behind their desks and on the phone. But the app makes it available anywhere.

That's definitely an easier access,” Donna Reichman, Baton Rouge Film Commission, added. “It’s going to expand the ability of the production to be able to access the information. It's going to get us a lot more vendors involved.”

The mobile app is a first of its kind for any city in the country, and Mayor Holden says simply put, it's a win for production crews and stores all throughout the area.

“When they see and learn about this and watch those dollars flow into their stores, they're going to be really happy.”

To register for “By Baton Rouge,” simply go to and click on “Vendor Discounts” along the right side of the screen. You will go to a site where you can sign up to display your goods and services, and even set discounts.

The program will provide participants with “By Baton Rouge” decals for their storefront entrance to help identify those businesses as film and television friendly.

All qualified film and television productions will receive “By Baton Rouge” vendor discount cards that will list the name of the production, along with beginning and ending dates. The card will expire at the ending date in order to prevent any misuse of the program.

The new “By Baton Rouge” app will be available at no cost to all film and television productions to search not only for vendors and shooting locations, but also for crew members.
