Pop-Star to headline 2014 benefit concert
BATON ROUGE, LA (FOX44) — Oregon born pop-star Mat Kearney, will be headlining a concert in 2014.
The Baton Rouge based production company Platform is sponsoring the event. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society and a local non-profit organization, Abundant Living.
According to Billboard.com, Kearney has six songs that have made their Top 40 Adult Pop chart. Kearney’s most successful song, “Nothing Left to Loose” was on the Billboard chart for forty-eight weeks, and achieved him his highest chart position of number 7.
His music has also been featured in numerous TV shows and movies such as: 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy, The Hills, Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, NCIS, and films like Soul Surfer and Catch and Release.
Myles Laroux, a local LSU advocate will be the event’s host. Tickets are on sale now and start at $37. Laroux is a co-creator of the "LSU Championship Bounce" song, according to WBRZ.
Louisiana native, Adam Dale is the opening act. According to Dale's facebook page, he is an independent singer/songwriter from Minden, LA. Dale's reverbnation page, says he has been touring on his own, for over ten years.
