Baton Rouge Gallery - center for contemporary art, 1515 Dalyrmple Drive, one of the nation's longest-standing professional artist cooperative galleries, has announced its annual call for new artist members.

Since its founding in 1966, Baton Rouge Gallery has grown into one of the area's premier contemporary arts center. The mission of the Baton Rouge Gallery center for contemporary art is to advance local & national contemp orary artists and to engage Louisiana's capital city through unique cultural programming.

As a cooperative gallery, many decisions regarding the artistic direction of the gallery (such as additions to its artist membership and which special exhibitions to host, etc.) are made by the existing artist membership, fostering an environment that promotes artistic exploration above all else. Currently, the gallery boasts an artist member roster of more than 50 professional artists ranging in media including fiber, print, drawing, glass, sculpture, painting and photography.

Artists of all media are encouraged to apply free of charge. Applications must be received by Baton Rouge Gallery no later than 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013. Artist application guidelines can be found at http://www.batonrougegallery.org/apply-to-be-an-artist-member/. To obtain a membership application, visit Baton Rouge Gallery (located inside BREC's historic City Park) and ask for an artist membership packet.
