Good news for some in north Baton Rouge. The Red Stick Mobile Food Market will be in the area weekly to help many in what are called food deserts.

Food deserts are spots without easy access to grocery stories or healthy food.

“We're bringing fresh locally grown produce from Louisiana farmers into the neighborhoods, so people are able to come and shop,” Cooper Alvarez, Executive Director, said.

The mobile market made its first weekly stops today on North Foster Drive. Right now, the market makes six stops a week. The hope is to increase that to eight later this year.

“It's a local opportunity for us farmers to sell directory to our customers and build a relationship to where they come back each and every week,” Eric Morrow, farmer, said.

On Wednesday's the market will be at the Scotlandville Library from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Then from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the market will be in front of Star Hill Church on North Foster.
