ENTERTAINMENT NEWS (CNN) — Now that he's bluntly owned up to his past behavior in his romantic relationships, John Mayer is ready to move toward something more ... well, human, in his words.
Although the 35-year-old is dating Katy Perry, their courtship feels like less tabloid fodder and more like an everyday romance.
"I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship. For the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship," Mayer told "CBS Sunday Morning" this weekend. "I really don't."
Just because it "feels" that way doesn't mean that the cameras are any less attentive when the pair show up at, say, the Grammy Awards.
"I'm not denying it," the "Shadow Days" singer said of the draw the press has to his partnership with Perry, who was previously married to Russell Brand. "I'm saying that for me it feels like something that is very human."
When it comes to marriage, Mayer hasn't ruled out the possibility.
"Of course," he told CBS on whether he can see himself getting married. "I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do."
