They beat the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 to win the NFC Champsionship.

Fans say the game was not easy to watch. The score was tied for most of the game.

It took a field goal in Overtime to put the Saints on top.

The New Orleans Saints will put their perfect season on the line Saturday at the Superdome against the Dallas Cowboys.

This is already a history making season for the "Black and Gold" as they try to make it to the Superbowl. Kickoff is at 7:20 tomorrow night and will air on the NFL Network.

Saints: Tracy Porter has Sprained MCL

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton says starting cornerback Tracy Porter has sprained his left knee and could return this season.

Porter injured his left knee in a collision with Saints safety Usama Young during New Orleans' victory in St. Louis on Sunday.

Payton says tests Monday revealed a medial collateral ligament injury, which will not require reconstructive surgery.

Porter, a second-round draft choice in 2008, won a starting spot
as a rookie only to dislocate his right wrist five games into last season.

Hornets' Chris Paul Out Indefinitely

An MRI performed on Hornets guard Chris Paul confirmed a left ankle sprain. He is out indefinitely. Paul will be re-evaluated on a regular basis and his status will be updated as necessary.

Paul suffered the injury with 40 seconds left in the third quarter of Friday’s game against Portland when he came down on Joel Przybilla’s ankle.

LSU Wins Homecoming Game

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Keiland Williams ran for 116 yards and two second-half touchdowns, helping No. 9 LSU fend off upset-minded Louisiana Tech 24-16 on Saturday night.

Williams' first score, on a powerful 3-yard run that moved the pile, gave LSU (8-2) a 17-13 lead midway through third quarter. His 9-yard TD in the fourth quarter made it a two-score game with a little over seven minutes to go.

Guard Stabbed During Tailgating Party at LSU

Developing News from the Fox News Baton Rouge Newsroom. LSU Police are looking for a man they say stabbed a female security guard at the LSU Law School Saturday.

There was a private homecoming function at the Law School. A man tried to get in, but the security guard stopped him. That's when, police say, the man stabbed the female security guard.

She has minor injuries, and she's expected to survive.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU enters the 2009-10 season as the highest ranked team in the Southeastern Conference at No. 9 in the early polls.
Coach Van Chancellor told The Times-Picayune that he's not sure
the Lady Tigers "deserve" the nod, but he feels a lot better about coaching them.
Last season, after No. 2 overall draft pick Sylvia Fowles, Erica White and Quianna Chaney departed for the WNBA, Chancellor turned to junior swingman Allison Hightower to carry the load.

Students Warned Against Scalping Tickets

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU students are being warned against scalping their tickets to Saturday's football game against top-ranked Florida.
University officials say selling the tickets for above face value violates both state law and LSU's code of conduct. The crime carries up to 90 days in jail and a fine of $500.
LSU requires student violators to do community service, attend an ethics workshop and write an essay. University officials say about 80 students were caught during the 2008 season - and three students have been disciplined this semester.

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they will hold Training Camp Powered by Toyota at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette’s Leon Moncla Indoor Practice Facility from Sept. 29 – Oct. 4.

“As Louisiana’s team, we are really looking forward to having the chance to spend time with our fans in Lafayette,” said Hornets Owner George Shinn. “We are fortunate to have Toyota on board as a partner for our 2009 training camp. As an organization, we consider ourselves a regional team and belong to not only New Orleans, but the entire state of Louisiana.”

defensive player of the week in the Southeastern Conference. Alem
recorded a career-best seven tackles, a sack and a pass breakup in

solo stops.

Tigers to Honor Longtime Broadcaster Ernie Harwell

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers will honor Ernie Harwell at Comerica Park.
The Detroit Free Press says Harwell will be honored Wednesday night during a game against the Kansas City Royals.
Harwell is expected to address the team before the game and watch it from team owner Mike Ilitch's suite. A video tribute will be shown.
The 91-year-old Harwell recently announced he has inoperable cancer.

COX, LSU Extend Deal

BATON ROUGE, LA – Cox Communications has signed a five-year extension to its sponsorship agreement with LSU Sports Properties. The extension, which lasts through the summer of 2015, retains Cox’s right as the “Official Communications Partner of LSU Athletics.” The original agreement, signed in 2005, made Cox Communications the first corporate member of Team LSU—the highest level of support for LSU Athletics.

Hornets Partner with Salvation Army

This season the Hornets have partnered with The Salvation Army to launch the Emerge program, which provides incentives to 6th, 7th and 8th grade Recovery School District students for perfect attendance at school.

After reaching the first benchmark date, 97 percent of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Mary D. Coghill have perfect attendance and will each receive a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart courtesy of The Salvation Army and the Hornets.

Sean Marks will be on hand to congratulate and hand out the gift cards to each student.
