Local gun stores see surge in sales

The national debate about gun control and promises from Washington to legislate firearm sales has some in Louisiana in a buying frenzy.

People in the Baton Rouge area say they're worried legislation at the national level will soon take away their second amendment rights. Today Jim’s Firearms in Baton Rouge was packed with regular Christmas shoppers, hunters, and those who fear their gun rights may soon be taken away.

“I hope it doesn’t,” Donny Swaggart, first-time gun buyer, said. “I hope the President has more sense than that, but with everything that goes on, I think he’s looking for any excuse to take guns out of the hands of Americans.”

Louisiana voters just passed a constitutional amendment that makes local gun protection laws some of the most generous in the nation.
