Burn Bans Still in Effect
BATON ROUGE, LA (WGMB) There is a burn ban in effect for the capital city and surrounding areas.
The burn ban has been in effect since last month, when close to 600 acres of forest were burned in Livingston parish, because those bans were not observed.
Authorities are asking East Baton Rouge parish residents not to burn leaves, have bonfires, or leave barbeque pits unattended for the next couple of days.
The vegetation in the city, things like trees, dry grass are dry enough that a single spark can easily start a blaze.
