Schimpf Earns SEC Honor for Opening Week
The LSU baseball team swept its three game series with Villanova — and second baseman Ryan Schimpf claimed Southeastern Conference player of the week honors.
Schimpf has a .700 batting average after going seven for ten against the Wildcats. That performance at the plate included a home run and a pair of doubles, plus six runs batted in. He also stole four bases.
It's the second time Schimpf has won the SEC’s weekly award. He picked it up last May after helping the Tigers sweep Mississippi State.
