LIVINGSTON, La (FOX44) - December 27, 2010 - Copper thefts are on the rise and Maurepas high school was the latest stripped of its metal.
A custodian was cleaning at the high school in Livingston parish when he noticed glass from a broken window.
Officials say the crooks broke into the school's shop class, taking around one thousand dollars worth of copper.
There have been dozens of cases just like this throughout the state within the last few months.
An empty school makes the perfect target.
