ACLU Filed Lawsuit Agianst Tangipahoa Schoolboard

Wednesday, December 9, 2009 - 7:25pm

Members of the Tangipahoa Parish School Board are hoping a little word play will help fight off a federal lawsuit. Board members voted unanimously to change the word "prayer" to "invocation" during their meetings. This comes after the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit against the school board. Parents involved in the suit say board members violated the constitution by opening with a prayer at board meetings but some local religious leaders say, prayer is needed everywhere.
