Our Morgan Rose sat down with troopers to find out how you can avoid coming into contact with 18-wheelers and their cargo.
Troopers say they usually get calls about trucks with gravel hitting drivers’ windshields, but as far as cargo getting loose, that’s rare. It’s scary to think of something flying off the bed of a truck and into your car. Trooper Russ Graham urges drivers to call *LSP if they notice items shifting in the back of a truck and to give 18-wheelers plenty of room.
State Police say the tickets aren’t cheap when truck drivers don’t tie down their load properly. As far as how many tickets troopers have written in the past year for truck drivers with cargo problems, they’ll have those numbers for us Wednesday.
