Baton Rouge Native Wins UFC Bout
Kyle Bradley TKO's his opponent in the first round
May 23rd was a good day for 26 year old Baton Rouge native Kyle Bradley. It was the day Kyle recorded his first win with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) during a nationally televised Pay-per-View event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The fight was over one minute into the first round thanks to Bradley scoring a TKO over his opponent, Phillipe Nover.
Nover was most noted for becoming a finalist on the Ultimate Fighter, a popular reality show which aired on the Spike network.
Bradley grew up in Baton Rouge and says he started boxing out of high school "as a way to keep competitive after football took me nowhere."
"I won’t say I got bored boxing, because I love the sport/art, but I eventually was more drawn to the sport of MMA because of how dynamic the fighters had to be and the variety the matchups provided."
