On day two of testimony, Gaylen Bellaire, the daughter of Henry Bellaire, revisited the last time she ever saw her father alive saying, “I see it every single day of my life. I’m going to see it until the day I die.” Claiming it was a then 16-year-old Jauve Collins who shot her father in the chest.
Talvard Smith was mentored by Bellaire and says, “It’s just a sad occurrence. I knew Mr. Bellaire personally. I think the State has a very strong case and hopefully justice will prevail.”
Both the prosecution and defense rested their cases this afternoon. Court will resume Thursday morning with closing arguments. If convicted, Collins could face a life sentence.
