A Baton Rouge police officer is recovering tonight after an SUV collided head-on with his police cruiser. Police say Officer Charles Pollar, Jr. was driving westbound on I-10 when a car going the wrong way drove past him. Pollar tried to turn around and chase the car, but hit a jeep head-on. It happened near the Dalrymple exit, just after 2:00 am. Pollar suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the jeep, 18-year-old Kevin Levy, Jr. had moderate injuries.
No citations have been issued yet. Police are still looking for the original vehicle that was driving the wrong way on the interstate.
