BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former Louisiana corrections official
is facing a federal indictment for alleged mail fraud while he was
in charge of prison agricultural operations.
Thursday's indictment is the latest legal trouble for James
Leslie, former head of state Prison Enterprises. In 2006, Leslie
pleaded guilty to witness tampering and is scheduled for sentencing
later this month.
The new indictment alleges that Leslie committed mail fraud from
2004 to 2006 as part of a horse-selling scheme.
Attempts to reach Leslie for comment on the indictment were
unsuccessful.
