LA ranks highest in auto insurance rates
Louisiana is now considered the most expensive state to drive in.
That's according to a new ranking released by Insure.com.
The company says drivers in the Pelican State pay a $2500 premium which is about a grand over the national average.
The Louisiana Department of Insurance says they aren't familiar with the site but they can't argue the ranking.
Officials say they've seen an increase in accidents throughout the state, and with that more cars have to to be fixed and more victims have to be taken to the hospital.
The agency says the cost to do those things is more expensive in Louisiana than it is in other states.
