LSU Sports Facilities Damaged by Storm

Thursday, March 26, 2009 - 10:55pm

The straight line winds that blew through Baton Rouge did damage all over the city. LSU's sports facilities weren't excluded. Homes of several Tiger teams were battered by the bad weather.

LSU's football practice was open for all to see, with the parts of the fence surrounding the outdoor fields down.

The indoor facility sustained plenty of damage. Portions of the roof were ripped off by the high winds, meaning the Tigers don't have the luxury of escaping the elements.

Even worse off is the Lady Tigers' soccer stadium. The press box was toppled and destroyed, plus the grandstands were thrown all the way to the center of the field.

LSU is assessing all the damage and crews are already at work.

Parts of the outfield fence are down at Tiger Park, forcing LSU to cancel its softball doubleheader with Mississippi Valley State Thursday.

The outfield fence is also down at the new Alex Box Stadium and some lights aren't working, so that could cause havoc on this weekend's three-game series against the Mississippi Rebels.
