A Parkview Baptist football player has been declared the nation's most inspirational athlete.
18-year-old Calob Leindecker is the receipient of the 2010 High School Football Rudy Award.
The award was created by Rudy Reuttiger—the man the classic 90's movie "Rudy" is based on.
Leindecker's dream of playing college football was shattered two years ago when his leg was crushed between two cars as he was helping his friend get his vehicle out of the mud.
Leindecker lost his leg and was told he probably would never play football again. But after undergoing countless surgeries and sitting out his entire junior season, Leindecker suited up his senior year and played.
It's a tale of triumph that even Rudy Ruettiger claims deserves its own movie.
As part of the award Leindecker received a $10,000 college scholarship.
He plans on attending LSU in the Fall.
