NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Louisiana officials are keeping state government offices closed in the New Orleans area. State offices in New Orleans, Grand Isle and in Lafourche, Plaquemines and St. Bernard parishes were closed Monday as a precaution as Hurricane Ida was moving through the Gulf of Mexico.

Ida was downgraded to a tropical storm Monday morning and the forecast called for it to make landfall early Tuesday in the Mobile area.
