West Feliciana Schools Project Deficit
ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (AP) - The West Feliciana School Board has adopted a budget for the current school year that projects a $1.27 million operating deficit.
Finance Director Helen Davis said on Tuesday that administrators
hope to reduce spending as the year progresses, but the board has $3.1 million in reserve to cover the deficit.
Most of the deficit is in the general fund, which accounts for most revenues and expenditures. Davis said the general fund expects to receive $21.6 million in revenues and to have expenses totaling $22.8 million.
Davis said she budgeted $3.4 million in anticipated sales tax revenues, the same as the board received for the fiscal year that ended June 30.
West Feliciana is losing $361,000 because it had a net loss of 54 students in the last year.
