Convicted felon arrested for attempted murder of man outside his home

A convicted felon was arrested for allegedly tried to shoot someone.

The Lafayette Police Department reports that the incident occurred on Thursday, Feb. 21 at roughly 10:30 a.m. Officers responded to a home located on the 400 block of Edison Street.

Officials say the victim was at his home when the suspect, Fenton J. Carter, 24, stopped his vehicle in front of his home. He allegedly screamed at the victim, then pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots in his direction.

The victim was unharmed and managed to escape in a vehicle.

Carter was arrested and charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
