LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A seventh-grader will be among the more experienced blacksmiths showing off their craft at this weekend's Festivals Acadiens.
The festival, running Friday through Sunday, includes a craft fair where Sam Riehl's work will be exhibited. He hopes to pursue the craft in earnest with a $1,000 mentoring scholarship from the Festivals Acadiens et Creoles and the Louisiana Crafts Guild. On display will be works Riehl made using the grant money.
