BATON ROUGE (FOX NEWS BATON ROUGE) - The Dufrocq School has been the home of "The Ducks" for nearly a century. Monday, teachers and students got to see its new look for the very first time.
The elementary school recently underwent a massive renovation and expansion that took two years and $20-million dollars to complete. The school still sits in it's original spot, but its addition now takes up two entire blocks of 19th Street.
The building isn't the only thing that's brand new, the school's principal says everything from the equipment to the school supplies will be used for the first time when school starts on August 7th. Principal Mary Robvais explains, "Amenities that go beyond the 21st century. It's just awesome!"
Robvais says Dufrocq is asking for volunteers from the community to help unpack boxes full of equipment and school supplies.
