Hundreds Attend Chinese Drywall Meeting
KENNER, La. (AP) - The Kenner Police Department is ready to
embrace crime camera technology by installing three units in
undisclosed locations by the end of the year. Federal grant money
will be used to pay for the program.
Police Chief Steve Caraway wouldn't divulge the exact locations,
but he said the three stationery cameras will be installed in areas
where we historically have seen problems.
In addition, the department also plans to put 16 license plate
recognition cameras in operation.
Caraway said the crime cameras will not be monitored around the
clock, but that the technology will enable officers to catch
criminals in the act or use the video to develop suspects later.
