Lady Tigers Beat MSU, Advance to Semis

The 3rd-seeded LSU women's basketball team build a 16-point lead in the second half and held off a late rally by Mississippi State to advance at the SEC Tournament, 63-58, late Friday.
LSU (18-9) won their sixth-straight game and avenged two losses to the Lady Bulldogs earlier in the season.
No. 6 see Mississippi State (22-9) were eliminated from the tournament.
LSU guard Allison Hightower led all players with 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting. Forward LaSondra Barrett added 11 points, while Destini Hughes came off the bench to score seven in place of Latear Eason.
The Lady Tigers shot 51 percent frm the field (26 of 51), and overcame the loss of Eason who left the game in the first half with a neck injury. Eason was carted off the court after a 10-minute delay with 5:33 left in the first half.
On Saturday at 8 p.m. CST, LSU will face No. 2-seed Vanderbilt (22-8), a 69-61 winner over Georgia on Friday.
