Lady Tigers Looking Good

Monday, November 9, 2009 - 9:24am

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU enters the 2009-10 season as the highest ranked team in the Southeastern Conference at No. 9 in the early polls.
Coach Van Chancellor told The Times-Picayune that he's not sure
the Lady Tigers "deserve" the nod, but he feels a lot better about coaching them.
Last season, after No. 2 overall draft pick Sylvia Fowles, Erica White and Quianna Chaney departed for the WNBA, Chancellor turned to junior swingman Allison Hightower to carry the load.
This season, Hightower is joined by a more experienced supporting cast, featuring sophomore forward LaSondra Barrett. Chancellor says the Lady Tigers also have a quickened pace and higher expectations that drive practices daily. LSU, coming off a 19-11 season that earned the program its 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, is ranked No. 9 in the nation by The Sporting News.
