LOGANSPORT, La. (AP) - The town of Logansport is getting ready
to celebrate the life of a man who survived and made a life for
himself after a severe high school football injury left him
disabled nearly 45 years ago.
Kenneth Harvey Day will be celebrated on Oct. 30 in Logansport.
Harvey, now 62, was a basketball and football star when he was
injured on the football field on Nov. 13, 1964. He was in a coma
for weeks and lost much of his mobility.
Today, his self-induced regimen of working parallel bars and
weights allows Harvey to get out of his wheelchair on occasion. He
drives a specially equipped van and has held various jobs.
Organizers of this fall's celebration say they want to honor
Harvey's for his religious faith and perseverance.
