Oyster Licenses Could be Limited

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi officials say they will suspend the sale of oyster licenses if the demand for them is too high.
Officials say the action is to guard against too much harvest pressure on the Mississippi oysters.
Bradley Randall, with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, says a shrimp season marked by low prices and the collapse of the oyster population in Alabama is blamed in part on the license action.
Randall tells the Mississippi Press in Pascagoula that officials
expect more oystermen to want to come to Mississippi.
Mississippi's oyster season generally runs from October through April. Louisiana has limited oyster licenses. Mississippi has five
