LSU women’s basketball head coach Van Chancellor announced Thursday that point guard Latear Eason underwent successful surgery to repair her left collarbone after sustaining an injury in the Lady Tigers’ NCAA Tournament second round game against Louisville.
“The surgery went well and we expect a full recovery for Latear,” Chancellor said. “Latear was a critical part of our success this season, and we expect great things from her next season.”
The procedure was performed by Dr. Brent Bankston.
Eason played in all 30 games for the Lady Tigers with 19 starts. She averaged 3.4 points and 2.1 assists per game and emerged as LSU’s starting point guard in the final 11 games of the season. Eason, a native of Chicago, Ill., will return for her junior season in 2009-10.
