A North Baton Rouge condo complex could soon be in the dark, but as our Morgan Rose finds out, these residents say they paid their bills and want to know why the lights are being shut off.
It’s a scary situation at the Brandywine Condos; residents we spoke will say they paid their bills and their checks cleared and always have. So why is Entergy saying that they’re turning off the power on Friday because the bill hasn’t been paid?
The complex is on the verge of being abandoned after residents got letters on their doors saying all association fees must be paid in full by the end of the month, otherwise they’ll be disconnected and discontinued. People say they’ve been doing their part, its other homeowners and investors that are pocketing the money and not paying the bills.
Winifred O’Neal, a 12 year resident of Brandywine Condos says, “I’m mad because their slumlords. How could they do this to us?” Councilwoman Donna Lewis says her office is in the process of working with Entergy to try and push back the shutoff date.
Tenants say that managers of Brandywine were run off the property today by angry residents. We were unable to get in touch with managers or any of the complex’s out-of-state investors.
