ETHEL, LA (FOX44) — An $11,000 reward is being offered for information leading the arrest of the person(s) responsible for shooting several cats earlier this month in the Ethel area.
Volunteers with the Northside Humane Society tell us they had roughly 25 cats in their facility located on Butler Lane off LA-995. They say someone shot five cats at close range with a .25 caliber gun. Four died, and one is recovering.
“These were all pet cats,” Laurie D’Arensbourge, Northside Humane Society, said. “To see them suffer the way they did was very cruel.”
The reward was initially set at $2,500. However, several organizations have chipped in over the past week to increase the reward with hopes of tracking down the person responsible.
“We are letting the community know that we are not going to stand for something like this any longer,” she added.
If you have any information about this incident or the person responsible, please call the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office or the Humane Society at (888) 648-6283.
