A 13-year-old boy was struck and killed by a tow truck after he attempted to cross five lanes of traffic on I-10.

The Louisiana State Police reports that the crash happened at around noon on Tuesday, Nov. 27 on I-10 the eastbound lane on Cleary Ave. and Causeway Blvd. We’re told the victim, Jeremiah Williams, was originally a passenger being taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators say the driver of the van pulled over after an altercation erupted in the vehicle. Emergency officials were contacted, but the teen got out of the van and ran across five lanes of traffic.

Williams then attempted to go back to the van, but when he was crossing back he was struck by a tow truck.

Williams was taken to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Louisiana law prohibits pedestrians from walking upon any interstate highway regardless of conditions.
